3/4 cup butter or margarine,
soft to nearly melted
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup dark molasses
2 eggs
1 tsp soda
1 tsp salt
3 cups flour
4 cups rolled oats (not quick)
2 cups chocolate chips
Nuts, if desired
Cream butter, sugars, molasses and eggs till well blended. Add flour, soda and salt and blend. Blend in oats, chips and nuts. Drop by spoonfuls onto greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 10-13 minutes, depending on your oven, just until set. Do not over-bake.
This recipe will bake well in a bar form, using a full jelly roll pan. Again, do not over-bake.
(NOTE: I often skimp on the brown and white sugars, or use just brown. Just don't leave out the molasses!)
